I Have So Many Questions

“No significant difference” in our milk?🤔 Perhaps “no significant difference” in taste but the FDA delivers some questionable statements, approvals and rejections. But that deep dive isn’t for a (Wordless) Wednesday post.

There are ample sources indicating the potential harm of ingesting bioengineered foods. It was fascinating to read how many publications don’t want to criticize the use of genetically modified organisms in our food supply.

“…a portion” of the contents is removed then re-added in the next country? Yikes.

So, the “concentrate” is from China and/or Turkey? Then shipped to Canada for packaging, followed by a truck ride to the U.S.?

“100% apple juice from concentrate” … “with added ingredients”…? 100% is complete at 100%….🙃.

Thank you for joining me on a not-so-wordless-Wednesday!

Glad you could relate! There were 20 more at my fingertips, all with questionable contents, production practices, etc.

TNMT means teenage mutant ninja turtles. They were regular turtles until they were exposed to mutagen.

I was going to type Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles but then I thought ‘no way does he mean that’😄! I completely forgot about how their original change took place. Great example.

Interesting trip through the ingredient list and learned a few things. Kind of disturbing things; I’m with you: 100% is 100% or it isn’t and you ought not be saying it is 100%. 🙂

The food production is a mess. The clever ways they are writing the label information to avoid clarity and transparency are concerning.

Agreed. Hiding undesirable additions under benign sounding names like “natural flavoring.”

You got it. And there are several similar phrases. We all need to build pesticide-free gardens, raise drug-free chickens… but not everyone has the climate, space, physical stamina, etc., for such an undertaking 365-days a year.

I’m not too excited about eating out because I’m not sure what they’ll put in my food. Now, eating in many not be much better. Sigh.

Yesterday my daughter told me there’s a new concern about eggs! Every week there seems to be another tainted fresh food item at the grocery store. I’m sighing with you.

For sure. Corporations are intentional about how the labels describe the food contents.

I went grocery shopping today, and it was even more frustrating than ever. I read the ingredients on about 20 packages of brats/sausages before I found ONE that did not have nitrates/nitrites. Fortunately, a number of companies are abandoning high fructose corn syrup and are proud of it–boldly labeled. But all of the seed oils? Ubiquitous. So, those are just the top concerns, but what about the “recommendations” that change overnight. Butter and eggs are now good for you after almost my whole lifetime of being horrible for your health. Wine swings from heart healthy to brain destroying. I am glad RFK Jr. is bringing a lot of issues to the forefront, but it is not enough and will never be as long as companies are so strongly motivated by greed rather than producing healthy foods. Your post exposes several things that make the consumer say, “Huh?” (And a devotion to the truth by companies, scientists, and the media would go a long way!)

I appreciate all of your comments. Shopping for healthy options has become incredibly time-consuming, hasn’t it? I’m paying much more these days for the products that appear to exclude harmful/unnatural ingredients. Who would have ever thought our food supply would be this tainted/bio engineered… filled with harmful ingredients?

Ach. So many bizarre pitfalls when it comes to processed foods. I appreciate your detective work. Chicken in a Biskit crackers are one of my favorite snacks, but I’m abstaining until after I shed a few pounds.

My son-in-law was eating chicken-in-a-biscuit crackers when I noticed the bio engineered ingredients. I wish you the best on your new health journey! Taking care of ourselves has never been more important.

Your post made me check my milk carton, Elena. No such issues with the brand we buy. I googled it and this is what I read: “Canada prohibits the artificial growth hormone rBST (recombinant bovine somatotropin) due to cow welfare concerns”. Also: “Canada maintains stricter regulatory limits than the USA on artificial growth hormones and somatic cell counts”. Maybe that’s why I notice a distinct difference in the taste of milk when we winter in Texas. 🤷‍♀️

Thank you for sharing that Canada maintains stricter regulations than the U.S. So disappointing. Very interesting that you notice a distinct difference when you drink milk in Texas😣.

Frustration Wednesday. Do they work at making us feel like fools? Why do we need all this bioengineered junk to begin with? Food wasn’t a problem decades ago–it was fresh and real. Now, who knows what it is?

Exactly true about our food decades ago. The food supply is increasingly concerning both in meat and fresh produce. The shortcuts, fillers, chemicals… must all be related to profit. We have to be vigilant when shopping and ingesting what is being sold.
