I think it’s a swallow. The kind that build mud nests on a porch or under the eves of buildings. Maybe she has a nest somewhere nearby. I’m glad she found her way out.

Thank you-I was wondering what kind of bird it was. We have had birds try to build nests in our former home’s garage, so maybe she was looking around. I’m thankful she finally got out!

The bird in the first photo looked like a hawk! 😳

As I scrolled down, relieved to see that it was not.

Glad to hear the sweet little thing was able to fly out eventually.

The wing span made it look larger than it actually was when perched. Thank you for the comments, I was glad too.

A few years ago, we had the same. Poor little bird just couldn’t find his way out even when we tried to help. At the time, we still had our cat and she was waiting for birdie to fly low in order to grab some lunch, so we had to put the cat in the house.

Yikes! Happy to read the bird escaped being lunch! I tried to help as well- unsuccessfully. It eventually made its own way out.

We have chipmunks and they are bad for chewing the wires on the scooters

I’m so sorry for the delay…just discovered this comment today!
Yes, the chipmunks doing that certainly aren’t helping you. I’m sure it’s time consuming and costly to replace wires!

Those blue feathers have me puzzled as to what kind of bird. I often see birds flitting about in the rafters of the big Super WalMarts and wonder how they ever get out.

So sorry for the delay, Terry on this comment…still having comment visibility issues!
A few readers offered their thoughts on the type of bird. I’m guessing those you mention might be living in the store!

I checked photos and I think that’s a juvenile female blue jay or possibly a juvenile female bluebird, not a swallow as it doesn’t have the deeply forked, v-shaped tail. It’s not unusual for juveniles to get in such predicaments and then to panic. I’m glad it finally found its way out.

Thank you for checking – I appreciate knowing. Interesting about juveniles… and it was definitely panicking.
