Seeing Green

I hope you’re having a wonderful final week of July. I have been knee-deep preparing all the details for my daughter’s upcoming baby shower. I leapt from my son’s wedding to all things baby! It’s truly been a whirlwind summer.

Have a blessed Wednesday!

I love the green. Everything here in this part of Texas is burning up. No plant can take 130 degrees of sun all day long and live through it. This is the first summer almost everything in my landscape is suffering or dying.

That is disappointing, Phil. Only the last fern photo was taken here in Hill Country. The others I took on a fresh, post-rain morning in NY last month. You were right about the TX heat (one of your comments when I moved here in November). I sure hope your landscape eventually recovers.

Two new Salvias are already gone as well as a Carolina Jasmine. My wildflowers and Butterfly bushes are soldering through.

Sorry about the losses, which are costly to keep replacing. My youngest has been down here five years now and still hasn’t adjusted to the straight-sun and heat. Poor plants can’t either.

I’m holding a service for my two purple Salvias this morning. They couldn’t hack the heat. Next year I’ll plant more Texas Sages and keep them trimmed short, you can’t kill those little critters.

I’m amazed at the plants that do survive and flower. I’ll remember Texas Sages are little toughies for when we do more planting.

Your green and water droplets look wonderful. We are in an unusual drought for Virginia.

Thank you, Pat. I enjoyed a few rain days and cool mornings all of June in NY while back for my son’s wedding. Let’s pray the skies over Virginia open soon, drenching your parched land.

So many of us are experiencing intense heat this summer. Florida is a scorcher. Plants are dying everywhere, so your green is a grin to the hope of growth and things getting better. And does it get any better than celebrating a wedding and a baby?

There does seem to be a pattern of excessive heat across several states this summer. The plants dying is such a bummer and can be very costly to replace. Yes, there has been much to celebrate, thank you!💗

The first three were photographed in NY last month. The last fern I shot on July 4th in Texas. Lush green is more challenging to locate in TX!!🌱
