Ranunculus blooms that youngest and I saw during a recent road trip to the quaint town of Fredericksburg, Texas.

    By chance, were these growing at Wildseed Farms? They have mostly native plants, but I have seen Oriental poppies growing there, so they might expand a bit. We do have several Ranunculus species, so it makes sense that these could thrive.

      We stopped at a place called Jenschke Orchards thinking they sold ice cream and discovered they had flowers you could pick. We didn’t pick with a long car ride ahead, but we enjoyed the rows of Ranunculus.
      Since moving here, I’m amazed how anything can bloom with so little precipitation and rock hard ground. But—with nearly 200 wineries and some farms around the area of Fredericksburg we drove through, clearly it’s good ground for grapes and some other vegetation.

    My second line supervisor used to bring ranunculus every spring. They were beautiful. I think they grew on his property in San Diego.

    We Texas folks love our Fredericksburg! Did you have time to visit the Wildseed Farms just outside of town? It’s the nation’s largest working wildflower farm. The number of wineries in the area have grown so fast in the last few years.
