December Contrast

My son’s view while cutting down a Christmas tree in New York this week:

A couple of my views in Texas this week:

I’m looking forward to seeing the cold supermoon on Thursday night. Strange being in Texas for this final supermoon of the year – where there is zero chance of clouds or snow in the forecast so I’ll definitely see it!🌕🌝 I hope you do too!

Thank you for reading/viewing today. I hope your Wednesday is a good one!🤍

Your photos definitely show the difference. Flowers vs snow. Both nice.

I agree that both are nice. It’s definitely not feeling Christmassy with so much sun! Thank you, Pat.

Even though I’m also in Texas, there’s not a chance in the world that I’ll see that moon. Our forecast on the coast is for clouds and rain from tonight through Friday. It’s one of the interesting aspects of living in such a large state, whether you’re measuring from Beaumont to El Paso or from Corpus Christi to Dalhart in the Panhandle. That also means that snow and ice can be ours as well — but I’ll be just as happy if it stays in the northern part of our state!

I’m sorry you won’t see the moon. I have learned in only a week that it’s winter in the morning and a northeastern summer by 2pm!😄 In the last 4 1/2 years of traveling down here, I have marveled at the extreme differences in weather, culture, etc., depending on which section I was visiting. When I discovered four European countries can fit in the state of Texas, that explained a lot! The size is simply enormous, the terrain changing significantly between major cities. My son-in-law has made it clear that the ice is no joke and that’s why everyone absolutely stays home when it happens. And I’ve learned so much from your blog about the outdoors! (Any idea what that yellow flower is that I posted?😄)

Your flower is called yellow bells, or Esperanza; it’s scientific name is Tecoma stans. Even though it’s native territory is in southern/western parts of the states, it’s widely used in landscaping. A friend outside Kerrville has a lot of it at her place, and it grows in my neighborhood as well. Here, it’s still in full bloom!

    Hi,

Is the yellow plant an Angel Trumpet. My Dad had lots of different colored ones, and the stem portion was different on a lot of them. (Does that sentence make sense?)

Makes me miss my Dad and Mom, Texas and Dad’s beautiful flower gardens.

    Have a great week!

    Blessings~💖

Awhhh, I love that the flowers brought happy memories. How blessed you are to have deep love and roots that stay with you but so sad to miss parents.
Thank you very much for the help with the flowers💛.
Where in TX are you from?

Yes, the moon should be a beauty tonight. Unexpected clouds moved into our area of Texas, but I’m still hopeful🤞🏻. I wish you a wonderful Thursday!🤍

Great photos! I love the sign with the snowman in the first one. It’s been overcast here in the RGV for the past few days and will be again tonight, so no super moon viewing for us. Enjoy!

Thank you! That sign made us smile every year chopping down the tree☃️. I learned a swift lesson that TX weather changes and we didn’t see the moon tonight afterall😕. Cloudy and surprisingly cold at 40°!

That’s cold for sure! Here in the RGV, our overnight low was 60 and after our usual very warm to hot weather, I found that to be a perfect temperature for sleeping.

Looks right! I’m somewhere in between, cold and dreary and gray but not cold enough for snow.
