7 Signs I’m Middle Age

1. I reached down to pull a loose thread off my calf – I assumed it was from my pants. Turns out, it was a ½” dark vein…or, broken blood vessel. Who knows? But, it was new and upon closer examination, there were others…

2. When scrolling shopping apps, I wonder… “Can I order the 24″ waist along with the cute blouse?”

3. I pick up books with titles like: I Feel Bad About My Neck: And Other Thoughts on Being a Woman by Nora Ephron (author of When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle, etc.). Yes, I’m grateful to be alive and healthy…I’m also disappointed about my neck changing!

4. I’m more attentive to the kind women in their 70’s and 80’s, reminding me to continue traveling, before body parts really wear out and airplanes become too much of a hassle…whose eyes firmly tell me to enjoy these days…(I’m listening)

5. I pack seven different supplements in a pill organizer for travel. When did I start ingesting so many? Japanese centenarians eat well and take no such thing.

6. I joined the chorus of those annoyed by medical insurance companies.

7. A friend texted, “Want to walk the mall?” What?! That’s for old people! She added, “It’s 42-degrees in May with torrential rain.” I went (though likely won’t again).

“It’s great to be wise and sage and mellow; it’s great to be at the point where you understand just what matters in life. I can’t stand people who say things like this. What can they be thinking? Don’t they have necks?” Nora Ephron

Hope you’re off to a good start to the new week. Wishing you a great day ahead!

You don’t ever expect aging to happen to you and when it inevitably does, you can fight, accept it, or try to slow it down. It’s not so much the wrinkles, gray hair, and glasses. That’s the easy part. Even the aches and pains can be manageable. It’s the loss of capabilities that are the worst, it seems.

Oh, very true, Pat and thank you for sharing. We joke and whine about the exterior, but you’re right about losing capabilities. We all have to keep moving and pray for health🙏🏻🏃🏼‍♀️.

Yep, Use it or lose it becomes a fact of life rather than a fitness mantra.

Oh I am familiar with those darn green/purple “threads” on the legs! But hey, I haven’t tried the walking in the mall yet for exercise! Haha Here’s a post I wrote *gulp* 10 years ago, a day before I turned 50-something! https://maryaperez.com/2015/08/26/ageless/

It seems like the lines on my legs showed up overnight! Not that I’m staring at my legs everyday😂 so who knows but they appeared! I will check out your post!

I’ve been hugging a heating pad for weeks, love it. I can relate to all except walking the mall.
