You’re Middle-Age When…Heating Pads and High Heels

Published by

on

High heels and wine glasses previously lingering from Friday nights long ago, have been replaced by heating pads and orthopedic footwear…

This was my Saturday morning view on the way to the kitchen-from my Friday night of packing boxes (we are selling this big empty nest–another post someday)…

I still occasionally use the wine glasses and wear high heels, but frequency of use has diminished!

High heels don’t even exist in my closet any longer! Looking forward to you telling us about your move.

Very few remain in my closet – especially with the purging going on…likely a moving post in the future.

I can remember working with females under 25 who all swore that working in a library in high heels was very comfortable. About aged 25, all of them switched to flats and then to athletic shoes. Legs may still look nice, but the comfort is on longer there.

I don’t think I fully believe those women at the library who claimed heels were β€œvery comfortable”?!πŸ˜‚ Comfort is the way to go for long days at work!

No more high heels! But the wine glasses multiplied as friends came to share evenings of wine and roses and great conversation! Don’t need high heels for that!!

Yep! I have 2 pair of heels – one for funerals and one that matches the New Year Eve formal dress. I guess because I always wore athletic shoes or nurses’ shoes I didn’t want to trade in my comfort for fashion! The big purge is on here. The movers arrive on Wednesday so al the things are being packed!!

All the best with your final step of the move. It’s such an undertaking- I am amazed every day that I’m STILL sorting, donating and packing. Are you relocating or staying local? I can’t recall from your posts.

Don’t be so hard on yourself. Packing and moving. Ugh!!!! It’s hard on the body at any age. NOT FUN!! May the rest of your packing and move be as pain-free as possible. And congratulations on downsizing!! You’re going to love your smaller place. Easier to clean and less clutter. What fun!!! 🩷

Yes, aches and pains are REAL during this lengthy process. Thank God two of our kids are local and have been a huge help!
