You’re Middle Age When…My Waistline

Your weight is the same that it has been for 10 years, but suddenly you need the next size up in pants!?

Stuff shifts, people. There are worse things in life for sure, but it’s a bummer.

If you read my previous post, I’m protesting the next size up by exercising. I’m also not spending more money to have a separate closet of bigger pants. I’m fighting the good fight. Well…1/2 way. I’ll exercise as much as possible, but I’m still eating ice cream. There are too few pleasures as we age and I’m not giving up dessert or my chocolate intake :).

It officially takes 3x as much effort for me to maintain —  hoping for a 50-something body to tighten and tone requires far more time than I have this week.

Welcome to Middle-Age!

I relate. At 80, I am fighting to take off the 10 lbs. I put on slowly. It comes off much more slowly than it went on. But, staying on top of it and caring to maintain health – those are the keys. Bless you. Keep that broad-minded attitude even as your waist expands! Where we wear our weight shifts. Yup… but that doesn’t have to define us!!

It’s true that it comes off so slowly. I suppose the majority of us will continue to watch our waist but as you said-not let our waist size define us! Great advice!

I can so relate to this! I’ll go for a walk, eat healthy all day and feel really good about myself. But then nighttime comes and I want all the sweets!

I’m with you! I can make up for an entire day of being “good” in one hour on my couch at night!πŸ˜„

Part of it is that you get shorter too. At least I did! I just need to be taller!

Yes – some added height would help stretch out my middle too!😊

My mind expanded along with my waist. At 78 I don’t care. I am not fat just bigger than I was. My mind is also more filled with stuff and still growing.

πŸ™‚ I think that second Barbie looks pretty good. Seriously. Mid life really does require new fitness tweaks. Cardio alone doesn’t cut it. You have to do hand weights and stretching and squinting if there’s a mirror nearby…

Don’t give up desserts or chocolates! I think I am ahead of you by about 20 years and I still eat desserts and have taken a solemn vow never to give up chocolate. Keep up the exercise because that will do you all sorts of good even if it does not reduce your trouser size!
